Brookhaven

Located just northeast of Buckhead, northwest of Interstate 85, and south of Atlanta's Interstate 285 perimeter, you will find Brookhaven, one of Georgia's newest cities. Founded in 2012, Brookhaven is home to about 50,000 residents and 12 square miles of beautiful homes, top schools, and numerous parks, shops, and restaurants. The gorgeous campus of Oglethorpe University even sits within the city's boundaries.

Things to Do

So, what do Brookhaven residents like to do? The city is definitely a favorite destination for golfers. It is home to the Peachtree Golf Club, and half of the historic Capital City Country Club is located in Brookhaven. If you enjoy the great outdoors but prefer something a little more casual, the 135-acre Murphey Candler Park is a hotspot for residents of all ages. It has hiking trails, picnic areas, a pool, playgrounds, a lake, and popular youth sports programs. For shopping, residents can head a minute or two west to Buckhead's world-famous Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza malls or just over Interstate 285 to Perimeter Mall, which houses over 200 stores and restaurants. If you prefer to stay inside the city limits, Brookhaven is home to numerous retail outlets, ranging from independently owned clothing boutiques to big-name retailers, like Costco and Marshall's. For local dining options, try Valenza, J. Christopher's, Terra Terroir Kitchen & Bar, or Hudson Grille – all local favorites.

Real Estate

The beautiful homes in Brookhaven were built over the course of a century. You may find historic construction that dates back to the early 20th century, mid-level ranch-style homes built during the 1960s and 1970s, or modern multi-million dollar estates in the city. Because of the variety of housing offered, it is easy to find something for any budget, whether you want to spend $200,000 or $2 million. Some popular neighborhoods in the city include Ashford Park, Hampton Hall, Brittany, The Bluffs of Nancy Creek, Brookhaven Heights, Brookhaven Lakes, Historic Brookhaven, Savoy at Town Brookhaven, and Tallulah Manor.

Schools

Several prestigious private schools are located in and around Brookhaven, including St. Martin's Episcopal School, Marist School, St. Pius X Catholic High School, and Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School. Public school students will attend Dekalb County Schools, including Ashford Park, Montclair, Woodward, and Montgomery Elementary Schools; Kittredge Middle Magnet School; and either Chamblee Charter or Cross Keys High Schools. Georgia State University also has a campus in the city.

Choosing Brookhaven

Whether you are looking for a mid-century ranch-style home where you can raise your young family or you are a single professional looking for a townhome outside of Atlanta but still close enough to the office, Brookhaven is the perfect spot for people from all walks of life. Even though it is located within Atlanta's busy Interstate 285 perimeter, it has the appeal of a small suburban town combined with the luxury of being in Atlanta for work or play in five minutes or less.
