Mountain Park is comprised exclusively of a couple hundred single-family homes, representing a wide variety of sizes, styles, lifestyles and ages, priced from $90,000 to over $2 million. The neighborhood’s amenities include two lakes, boating, fishing, parks, a community pool and an organic garden. “It feels like you are far from the city,” said City Councilman Scott Mills, President of the William Mills Agency. “The air is cleaner and the temperatures are generally a little cooler because we are lower than Roswell and have a lot of trees. It is just so relaxing and fun to live there.”

Mountain Park was incorporated in 1927 and the community has not changed much in the past 50 years. “The city was founded as a recreational community for Atlantans in the 1920s. People would come out to their cabins in the summer. Most cabins did not have running water and actually many had out-houses,” said Mills. “Today, we have historic houses dating back to the early 1900s, new construction and everything in between.”

The schools serving Mountain Park are Mountain Park Elementary, Crabapple Middle and Roswell High School. There are no businesses within Mountain Park, but the community is near Highway 92, with a panoply of businesses including grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies and dry cleaners. The community is bordered by Roswell, which has a charming commercial historic district. Major hospitals in the region include North Fulton Hospital and Kennestone Hospital.

Mountain Park is designated as a wildlife refuge and is a Tree City USA community, which means it prioritizes and promotes the careful management of its woodlands. Mountain Park’s population, as of the 2010 census, was 547. The city is mostly within Fulton County, although a small section extends into unincorporated Cherokee County.
