The Mt. Paran-Northside neighborhood, which is near Chastain Park and the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, has approximately 1000 homes, wooded lots, three churches and is close to some of Atlanta's finest stores, restaurants and private schools. The upscale neighborhood starts at around $600,0000 and includes amenity-rich, multimillion-dollar estates.

The region's public elementary school, Warren T. Jackson, is right on Mt. Paran, which is a central street running east and west between Roswell Road, Northside Parkway and Paces Ferry Road. “My husband and I were attracted to the neighborhood for so many reasons, but the biggest drivers were W.T. Jackson Elementary School and proximity to work and to the airport, which is just 25 minutes away," said resident Yolanda Adrean.

The Mt. Paran-Northside Citizens Association was established in 1984 in response to attempts to change the neighborhood's single-family-home character, according to Lynne Moscow, a 43-year resident and founding member of the association. "If someone wants to live in an all-residential, single-family neighborhood on a large lot and can afford $700,000 to several million, Mt. Paran is the place to live," she said. Many of the homes have been built within the last 15 years and prices range from the $600,000s, for a one-level ranch, to $3 to $5 million.

The Mt. Paran Convenience Store - known as The Country Store by the locals - is a landmark dating back to 1906 at the corner of Mt. Paran and Northside Drive with gas pumps and home-cooked meals. There are several pocket parks maintained by the Mt. Paran Woods Garden Club and the closest hospitals are Scottish Rite, St. Joseph’s, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Northside Hospital.

In addition to Warren T. Jackson Elementary, the community is also served by Sutton Middle School and North Atlanta High.
