Rhinecliff, New York

Rhinecliff is a hamlet set along the Hudson River in western Rhinebeck, just one mile west of Rhinebeck village and 90 miles north of New York City. It is directly across the Hudson River from the city of Kingston and is one of the oldest intact hamlets along the Hudson River.

Rhinecliff is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a contributor to the Hudson River National Historic Landmark District, designated a Scenic Area of Statewide Significance and is in the Hudson River National Heritage Corridor.

Residents note the area’s quiet and serenity and yet value its close proximity to the conveniences of Rhinebeck. It is surrounded by the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains to the west and wooded areas to the north, east and south.

The Rhinecliff hotel, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a landmark of note. It was built in 1854 and was originally a rooming house for travelers visiting the area.

The train station in Rhinecliff services a local area and is a stop for journeys to Canada in the north and New York City in the south.
