Hudson, New York
Few people are fortunate enough to live in town buzzing with the best of today and yet echoing America’s proud past everywhere. Those lucky few can be found in Hudson, New York, a natural abode in Columbia County.
A diverse art and music culture is found among hundreds of historic buildings that, according to GoToHudson.net, represent every architectural style of the last three centuries. Hudson is the first city chartered in the United States and was first settled by the Dutch in the mid-17th century. The town thrived, thanks to the whaling, sealing, fishing and shipbuilding industries, and remained a shipping and manufacturing center into the 20th century. After making it through a decline in the 1960s and 70s, the town was restored and has become an arts and cultural center.
ArtsWalk, held in the fall, celebrates the city’s finest artists. In December, Warren Street hosts a winter celebration to welcome the start of the holiday season. There also are two annual events held on Warren Street: a celebration of the region’s volunteer firefighting in May and the Flag Day Parade in June.
Residents also enjoy the FASNY Museum of Firefighting, the Hudson Opera House and the Taconic Gardens. Heather Croner Real Estate is proud to represent the town’s finest homes and celebrate its rich architectural heritage.
