Edgewood is a diverse, affordable, fun, intown neighborhood with proximity to Decatur and downtown Atlanta. It was recognized as early as 1870 and was incorporated as a town in 1899. Several of the original homes, on Hardee and Montgomery Street, and are still there today.

Edgewood offers great value for intown living, promotes a strong sense of community and is experiencing a lot of development right now. The neighborhood is a blend of very long-term residents, new families and young professionals, and is one of the few intown communities with a MARTA station right in the neighborhood and easy access to I-20. The quality of life within Edgewood is not very different from the surrounding, pricier neighborhoods and it is located a few miles from downtown Atlanta, Emory University and just 15 minutes from the airport. The Edgewood Retail District is located within the community and has a myriad of stores and restaurants including locally owned businesses like Sole Shoes & Accessories and the beehive alongside nationally recognized brands like Lowe’s, Best Buy, Target, Office Depot, Kroger, Barnes & Noble and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Edgewood is within a half-mile of shops and restaurants in Little Five Points, East Atlanta Village and Kirkwood and is a very walkable community. You often see residents walking to the retail district, jogging, walking dogs or working in their yards. They can also utilize the newly refurbished public swimming pool at Candler Park, the Candler Park Golf Course, Charlie Yates Golf Course, historic East Lake Golf Club, Walker Park and tennis, baseball and basketball courts at Coan Park.

The home prices range from $150,000 to $350,000 making Edgewood a very affordable intown community. There are 800-plus homes and the schools serving Edgewood include Whitefoord Elementary, Coan Middle School and Maynard Jackson High.
