Historic downtown Duluth has a variety of charming stores and restaurants including Chocolate Perks A Downtown Bistro, Boudreaux’s Cajun Seafood Market, Frugally Yours Interiors, Accessorize Again, The Best of Brews, Sassy Girl Designs, The Boiler Room, Steverino’s, Tie Dye 4, Huthmaker Violins, Church Ladies and Red Clay Theatre, which is a new variety playhouse with 280 seats and cutting-edge lighting and sound. Annual events in Duluth include a fall festival with a concert and a weekend filled with food, arts, crafts, a five-kilometer road race and a parade. Major regional shopping centers include Mall of Georgia, Gwinnett Place Mall and Sugarloaf Mills Mall.

Duluth was named after Duluth, Minn., and it was once home to Cherokee Indians. Its park system includes the 67-acre Shorty Howell Park, which contains seven baseball and softball fields, a multi-purpose field with a walking track, a pavilion, playgrounds and a multi-purpose trail, which runs over a mile. Some of the regional employers include Gwinnett Medical Center; Cisco Systems, Inc.; Fiserv, Inc.; Primerica; NCR Corp.; Nextel South Corp.; Publix; Assurant Specialty Property; Emory Eastside Medical Center; Office Depot Distribution; Merial; and RockTenn.

A variety of public schools within the Gwinnett County Public School System serve Duluth, in addition to a few private schools. They include Duluth Junior Academy, Duluth Montessori School and Notre Dame Academy.
