Country music superstar Zac Brown, lead vocalist of the Zac Brown Band, was born in Cumming, which is the county seat of Forsyth County. Forsyth is the wealthiest county in Georgia, the 30th wealthiest county in the United States and one of the fastest-growing regions in the United States. Interest in the region grew as the completion of Ga. 400 turned it into a bedroom community for Atlanta.

Cumming’s housing ranges in price from the low $100,000s to over $1 million, and includes single-family homes, townhouses and condominiums. One of its better-known communities, Polo Golf & Country Club, includes a private country club with a championship 18-hole golf course, swimming and tennis.

The entire county has over 50,000 homes with a median price of $232,000, according to Jimmy Lane, Director of Member Services with the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce. He says that Cumming residents move there for the low tax rates, quality of life, good schools and recreational opportunities including the annual Cumming Country Fair & Festival with carnival rides, a petting zoo and concerts. They also enjoy the beauty of Lake Lanier, a 38,000-acre reservoir bordering the eastern side of the county with boating, swimming and jet skiing.

Great shopping opportunities are found throughout Cumming including at The Avenue, which has a Barnes & Noble, Bath & Body Works, Coldwater Creek, JoS. A.
