Chastain Memorial Park is the largest city park in Atlanta, spanning 268 acres. The park includes an amphitheater with a seating capacity of 6,900, walking trails, playgrounds, a golf course, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a horse park as well as the historic eatery, Horseradish Grill.

Chastain Park’s amenities are within walking distance of many homes and also include an arts center, three schools and a basketball gymnasium. The Buckhead neighborhood is comprised mainly of single-family homes, some of which date back to the 1940s. However, most of the original development occurred in the early 1950s through the 1960s. As a result, there are midcentury-modern homes as well as ranches, on large, wooded lots spanning over a half-acre.

Many homes have been replaced with newer, innovative construction. A look inside a six-bedroom, five-bath, 6,200-square-foot home, which was built in 2000 and is priced over $1 million, reveals French doors leading to an exquisite cedar screened-in porch with a stacked-stone fireplace and a grilling pavilion. Home prices generally fall between $400,000 and $2 million and the homes vary greatly in size, from two bedrooms and two baths to seven bedrooms and six baths.

The majority of Chastain Park's homes are within the city of Atlanta and those children attend Warren T. Jackson Elementary School, which has a primary campus in Chastain Park and is considered one of the best elementary schools in Atlanta; Sutton Middle School, which is also located inside Chastain Park; and North Atlanta High. Chastain Park is also home to the Galloway School, which is an independent school with around 700 students.

Some of the area medical centers include Northside Hospital, Saint Joseph's and Scottish Rite.

Chastain Park is named for Troy Green Chastain who was a member of the Fulton County Commission in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
