Buckhead is located in the northern part of Atlanta, Georgia. It is a commercially successful district surrounded by family-friendly suburbs. Now home to office buildings, upscale hotels, and unique shops, Buckhead's first major establishment was an enormous shopping mall built in Lenox Square. At the time of its construction, in 1959, it was one of the first malls in the country. Local Attractions

Residents of Buckhead enjoy wonderful attractions right at their front door. The Peachtree Road Farmers Market at the Cathedral of St. Philip is a popular place to shop between the months of April and December. They are the largest producer-only farmers market in Atlanta. When the weather turns colder, Buckhead residents can ice skate at the St. Regis Hotel or have tea with Santa at The Ritz-Carlton. Residents can enjoy better weather at Piedmont Park, Chastain Park, Bobby Jones Golf Course & Park Conservancy, and Atlanta Memorial Park.

Education

Elementary School

These schools benefit from a better teacher to student ratio. Additionally, the Atlanta Speech School is available to students up to age 12 who may have special needs.

Atlanta International School, The Galloway School, The Lovett School, Pace Academy, and The Westminster School all accept young applicants for their preschool or kindergarten classes. All of these schools educate until senior year of high school and will be touched upon again later in this article.

Middle School

There is one public middle school in Buckhead called Willis A. Sutton Middle. On average, the 1,370 students that attend SMS score in the top percentile for the CRCT, a standardized test. The five private schools listed in the above section also serve grades 6-8, the typical middle school age range.

High School

Buckhead is home to North Atlanta High School. Warriors are their mascot, and "Diversity, Scholarship, Community" is their motto. The school has over two dozen clubs, a wide variety of successful athletic teams, and small learning communities within their academics. These communities are the Center for the Arts, the Center for Business and Marketing, and the Center for International Studies. Each center contains about 400 students and one principal of the department.

Once again, the five private schools listed under the Elementary School section also serve as high schools. They have wonderful success rates of students getting into a college of their choice. Each focus on something different; for example, Westminster is a Christian school, and Lovett places emphasis on liberal arts. There is a high performing school in Buckhead for everyone.
