The town of Hurley in Ulster County is located between the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains, just two hours north of New York City, one hour south of Albany and three hours west from Boston.

According to the town’s website, some 6,700 people call Hurley home. It is “noted for its extensive sweet corn fields and its wonderful views of the mountains.” Hurley was settled by the Dutch in 1662, but shortly after that became English. It is made up of the hamlets of Old Hurley, West Hurley and Glenford. Main Street in Hurley, with its historic stone houses, is part of the National Register of Historic Sites. Some are open to the public once a year on Stone House Day.

The Maverick Concert Hall can be found in West Hurley, where the Maverick Concerts are held each summer.   The concert series is the United States' oldest continuously operating summer chamber music series.  Movie buffs will note that in 1982 parts of the movie Tootsie were filmed at the historic Wynkoop Farm and the Hurley Mountain Inn.
